Theresa Cabe, M.D. is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas Medical School, Philippines. She completed her residency at the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program. Following her residency training, Dr. Cabe practiced with Brooklyn Medical Associates from 1996 through 1999 at BMA's Monroeville office with Don Giant, M.D. From 1999 through September 2006, Theresa worked at StatCare and RediMed. Her hours worked at these urgent care centers afforded her the time to start a family and have some home time with them. MinXin Fu, MD, PhD, FAAP, a board-certified pediatrician comes to SJMG from Goshen General Hospital, where he was a pediatrician for two years. Dr. Fu's clinical interests include newborn care, obesity, ADHD and asthma.

Dr. Fu graduated from Fujian Medical University in Fujian, China, in 1984. He completed a residency in internal medicine and worked as an internal medicine physician at Union Hospital, Fujian Medical University in Fujian, China, from 1984 to 1987. He went on to complete a fellowship in endocrinology with clinical research at First Hospital of Peking University School of Medicine in Beijing in 1990. He later graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 1996 with a Ph.D. and postdoctoral fellowship in biochemistry.

Dr. Fu was the medical and science director at Wellness Service, OXIS International in Portland, Ore., from 1998 to 2004, and he spent time as a research scientist at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Research Institute in Cleveland before returning to school to complete a pediatric internship and residency at Infants & Children's Hospital of Brooklyn, Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, N.Y., in 2007.

Ammar Ghanem, MD, FCCP, DABSM, joined St. Joseph Medical Group in July 2010 after serving as an attending physician at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio, since 2005. He also served on the faculty at Ohio University in Athens, Southern Ohio Medical Center.

Dr. Ghanem earned a medical degree from Damascus University Medical School in Damascus, Syria, in 1994. He trained in internal medicine at Damascus University and Ministry of Health Hospitals, where he was named graduate of the year. In 2003, he completed an internal medicine residency at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., which is an affiliate of State University of New York Upstate Medical University at Syracuse.

He completed fellowships in sleep and pulmonology at Marshall University, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, W.V., in 2005, and in 2010, he completed a fellowship in critical care at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Dr. Ghanem is board certified in internal, pulmonary and sleep medicine. Hamid S. Hamdi, MD, a board-certified neurologist, has joined the neurology team at St. Joseph Medical Group. Dr. Hamdi is also board certified in neurorehabilitation.

Before coming to Fort Wayne, Dr. Hamdi was a staff physician at the New York University Medical Center and Hospital for Joint Diseases and taught as a clinical assistant professor at the NYU School of Medicine. Prior to that, he worked at St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., and at the Lafayette Home Hospital and St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette, Ind.

Diana L. Lackey, MD, a pulmonologist, joined St. Joseph Medical Group in September 2007. Dr. Lackey, who is experienced in pulmonary and critical care medicine, was in private practice in Atlanta, Ga., before coming to Fort Wayne.

Dr. Lackey entered medical school after high school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She earned a bachelor's in biology in 1984 and a medical degree in 1985. Yu Liu, MD, a board-certified neurologist, specializes in neurophysiology (EMG, EEG, evoked potential and sleep medicine). Dr. Ouseph joined the St. Joseph Medical Group psychiatric team in November 2009. Prior to joining the group, she worked as a psychiatrist for Staff Care, the leading locum tenens staffing company in the U.S. Most recently, Dr. Ouseph provided psychiatric care at hospitals and clinics in Marion, Lafayette, Auburn, Fort Wayne and Muncie, Ind. Before joining Staff Care, Dr. Ouseph was a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Stratford.

Dr. Ouseph completed her preuniversity studies at Stella Mary's College in Madras, India, in 1962, and earned a Bsc in chemistry at Women's College in Trivandrum, Kerala, India, in 1965, graduating as a gold medalist. She then earned a medical degree from Kottayam Medical College in Kottayam, Kerala, India, in 1972.

Dr. Ouseph completed a rotating internship at Trivadrum Medical College in Trivandrum, Kerala, India, in 1974. She completed a one-year psychiatric residency at Norristown State Hospital in Norristown, Pa., in 1976, and she completed the second and third years of this residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1978.

Dr. Ouseph is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, and she is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. In 2006, she was appointed to the Governor's Medical Advisory Panel for the state of New Jersey.

A Fort Wayne native and Snider High School graduate, Jeffrey L. Witt, MD, joined St. Joseph Medical Group in August 2010 after serving as the associate medical director of the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program for seven years.

Dr. Witt graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree from Ball State University in 1981. He earned a medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1985 and completed a clinically oriented residency in family practice with a focus on emergency medicine and obstetrics at FWMEP in 1988.

From 1981 to 1992, Dr. Witt served in the United States Naval Reserve. He served as the director of outpatient surgery at Marine Corps Headquarters in Quantico, Va., from 1988 to 1989, and he served as senior medical director of a branch clinic in Sasebo, Japan, from 1989 to 1992.

From 1992 to 1995, Dr. Witt was in private practice in Richmond, Ind., where he also served as medical director at Cherish Nursing Home and Cardinal Home Health Care and worked as a medical advisor to the Ivy Tech medical assistant program.

In 1995, he moved to Huntington, Ind., and joined Family Practice Associates, where he worked eight years. During this time, he became an associate faculty member for the Indiana University School of Medicine and a clinical faculty member at FWMEP. He joined FWMEP full time in 2003.

Brian A. Youn, MD, joined St. Joseph Medical Group as an intensivist in April 2008. Dr. Youn has been on St. Joe's active medical staff since 1996 and has served in a variety of leadership roles at the hospital throughout the years.

Dr. Youn earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va., in 1979, and he earned a medical degree from CIFAS University School of Medicine in the Dominican Republic in 1983.
